Free Photoshoots in Boise: Are They Real?
If youโve spent any time looking for a photoshootโboudoir or otherwiseโyouโve probably seen it:
โFree sessionโ
โModel callโ
โNo cost to shootโ
And your first instinct is usually the right one:
Whatโs the catch?
Because most of the timeโฆ there is one.
The Truth About โFreeโ Photoshoots
In a lot of cases, โfreeโ doesnโt actually mean free.
It means:
- the session is free, but the photos cost money
- youโll be invited to a reveal where images are sold at high prices
- packages, prints, and albums are where the real cost shows up
So yes, you might not pay to show upโbut youโll likely pay if you want anything from it.
And by that point, youโre already invested.
Why Photographers Do This
Itโs not randomโitโs a business model.
Offer something free upfront โ
build excitement and trust โ
deliver emotional impact โ
sell the final product
It works because photographyโespecially something personalโcreates a strong reaction. Once you see yourself in those images, itโs harder to walk away.
Again, nothing illegal about it. But itโs not as simple as it sounds.
What About Model Calls?
Model calls are another version of this.
Sometimes theyโre legitimate collaborations:
- you get photos
- the photographer builds their portfolio
But sometimes theyโre just a different entry point into the same structure:
- limited spots
- curated selection
- and eventuallyโฆ sales
It can blur the line between collaboration and marketing.
Soโฆ Are Free Photoshoots Real?
Yesโbut rarely in the way people expect.
A truly free photoshoot would mean:
- no session fee
- no required purchases
- no pressure afterward
Those existโbut theyโre not the norm.
A Different Approach
Thereโs a simpler way to do this.
Photography doesnโt have to be:
- packaged
- upsold
- turned into a high-pressure experience
It can just be:
a person
a camera
and something real happening in front of it
Thatโs it.
No layers. No games.
Why I Offer Free Photoshoots in Boise
Because the barrier has gotten too high, and I believe it’s ridiculous profiteering to charge money for something that should be free.
Too many people are priced out.
Too many shoots feel transactional.
Too much of the experience is built around selling instead of creating.
So I removed the structure entirely.
No session fee.
No upsells.
No pressure to buy anything afterward.
If we shoot, we shoot.
If we create something real, thatโs the point.
If Youโre Thinking About It
Be skepticalโbut donโt be closed off.
Ask questions:
- Whatโs actually included?
- What happens after the shoot?
- Do I have to buy anything?
Once you understand the structure, you can decide what feels right.
And If You Want Something Different
If youโre in Boise and youโve been curiousโbut turned off by the cost or the processโreach out.
No pitch. No pressure.
Just a conversation.
I’m here to disrupt the entire fucking boudoir system. If you’re a disruptor, contact me.
